100% Offline AI Architecture

Empowering Education,
Anywhere.

Grounded in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) lectures, AXAM is the first AI tutor that runs entirely offline. Full conversational learning on any computer, from low-compute devices to high-end machines. No internet required. No token limits. No usage costs. Every student or teacher gets unlimited, unthrottled access, anytime, wherever they are. Bridging the digital divide and Democratizing Education.

The Core Problem

Connectivity and rate limits Shouldn't Dictate Potential.

For Millions of students and teachers in underserved communities, from local city districts to remote global classrooms, the barrier to cutting-edge AI isn't hardware; it's mainly reliable and affordable internet.

Axam brings the power of interactive learning and automated teaching assistance directly students, completely offline. No buffering, no distractions, No rate limits, just learning.

Outstanding Impact in Science and Technology

AXAM won the Outstanding Impact in Science and Technology award at the Katz School of Science and Health Symposium 2026, alongside a peer reviewed paper, "When There Is No Internet: An Offline Multilingual Retrieval-Augmented Generation System for AI-Powered Education."

MIT OpenCourseWare material transcripts, a three tier AI model stack that works on anything, from low RAM, no GPU devices to high end powerful GPUs and compute devices.

Grounded in the research

Behind the paper sits a full literature review, a synthesis of 80+ papers on offline retrieval augmented generation, quantized small language models, and multilingual embeddings, setting out why an offline first tutor is both technically feasible and urgently needed.

Open Education Global (OEGlobal) 2026 at MIT, Cambridge, MA

AXAM was selected to present at OEGlobal 2026, the world's leading open education conference, co-hosted by MIT Open Learning and Open Education Global at MIT campus in Cambridge. We shared how AXAM brings open educational resources (OER) to learners in low connectivity communities. The conference was in October 2026 at MIT's Samberg Conference Center and marks the 25th anniversary of MIT OpenCourseWare.

Meet the Founder

Emmanuel Olimi Kasigazi

From growing up in Uganda, where the chalkboard was often the only technology available, to co-founding and running a technology company for 14 years that served everyone from nonprofits like UNICEF to companies like Mastercard, government agencies, small businesses, and individuals across five African countries, Emmanuel has spent his career building for real-world problems. Today, in New York, he is building and shipping AXAM’s entire offline AI pipeline. He builds because he has lived on both sides of the digital divide, and he focuses on problems he has experienced firsthand and understands deeply.

Current Focus (MVP)

A Tutor for Every Student.

Our upcoming student-facing AI tutor is modeled on the "Explain Like I'm 5" (ELI5) approach, entirely offline. Complete offline functionality means students can learn anytime, anywhere without worrying about connectivity issues, data costs, token limits, rate caps, or usage costs.

  • No internet required: Every student gets unlimited access, every time, wherever they are..
  • No token billing meters: there's no API to charge
  • No usage caps or rate limits: A student can ask as many questions as they want, as long as they want, and no cost per query

It provides friendly, easy-to-understand explanations for complex subjects like algebra and English.

  • Conversational Memory for natural interactions
  • Adaptive complexity (simple vs. detailed answers)
  • Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) ensures factual accuracy
AXAM STUDENT
I don't understand fractions. Can you explain 3/4?
Imagine a pizza! 🍕 If you cut it into 4 equal slices, the bottom number (4) tells us how many total slices there are. The top number (3) tells us how many slices you get to eat. So 3/4 means you get 3 out of the 4 slices!

Technical & Security Advantages

Built for the Real World.

Advanced Local Language Models (LLMs) deployed on-premises. Zero cloud dependency.

100% Offline Architecture

Works flawlessly without ever connecting to the internet. No cloud API costs, no bandwidth throttling. Inference runs entirely locally using optimized models.

Low-Compute Friendly

Designed to run smoothly on the older, limited-resource tablets and computers already present in your schools. Efficient vector databases (ChromaDB) handle local document retrieval fast.

Uncompromising Privacy

Because data never leaves the local device or school network, Axam naturally meets strict privacy standards, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and U.S. Department of Education compliance. Your data stays within your walls.

The Future Vision

What's Next for AXAM.

From Classroom to Career

Education is just the beginning. As students grow, AXAM's long-term roadmap includes an AI-driven "Workforce Score" designed to connect talented learners with opportunities in corporate recruiting.

From Software to Hardware

We also plan to design and ship dedicated AXAM hardware. Think of it like the Amazon Fire Stick or the game cartridges you used to plug in and play, a compact, ready-to-go device that absorbs most of the computing workload so that even the most resource-constrained laptops and desktops can run AI-powered learning smoothly.

AXAM Edge Box

For schools with many devices but limited computing power, we plan to ship an AXAM Edge Box, a local device that sits in the school and connects all their machines together, handling the heavy processing so every computer in the lab can access AXAM without needing powerful hardware of its own. One box, one school, every student connected.
